A comprehensive, hands-on programme for professionals seeking advanced insight into elastomers—from molecular structure to sustainable applications.
From 22 to 26 June 2026, the University of Twente hosts an intensive five-day seminar dedicated to rubber technology. This English-taught programme is designed for professionals in engineering, materials science and the rubber and polymer industries who are looking to deepen both their theoretical understanding and practical expertise.
The seminar offers a comprehensive exploration of elastomers, covering everything from fundamental polymer science to industrial processing and product performance. Participants will gain insight into material behaviour, formulation strategies, and the latest developments in sustainable rubber technologies.
Bringing together academic specialists and industry experts, the course combines lectures, case studies, and interactive discussions. It also provides opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange, as well as a guided tour of the Elastomer Technology and Engineering laboratories at the University of Twente.
Programme overview:
- Day 1 – Fundamentals of Elastomers: Introduction to rubber materials, molecular structure, and viscoelastic behaviour
- Day 2 – Compounding & Mixing: Ingredients, formulation principles, and mixing technologies
- Day 3 – Vulcanisation & Lab tour and demonstrations: Shaping techniques, curing processes, and production methods
- Day 4 – Properties & Performance: Mechanical properties, testing, durability, and failure analysis
- Day 5 – Sustainability & Workshops: Recycling, environmental impact, and emerging applications
The seminar takes place on the University of Twente campus in Enschede and is aimed at engineers, chemists, product developers, and other professionals working with rubber and elastomeric materials.
